If you're doping and want to get away with it, I wouldn't recommend running 9:01 in a steeple prelim. Reminds me of when Ramzi ran 3:32 in the first round in Beijing in 2008. You are just inviting more scrutiny when you make it look that easy.

Disappointing, but unsurprising.
So that's the all time #2 and #3 busted for doping, and with the #4 clearly DSD, that 8:44 from Chepkoech looks... slightly unbelievable to put it politely.

It’s an outlier, but of course Courtney Frerichs has run 8:57 and she is not particularly quick on the flat (4:07/8:47/14:48). The womens steeple does not typically get athletes who could be at the medal level globally in the 3,000 (like Chepkoech).

So easy for Emma and gault to call dopers dopers when they are African, but it’s still a tragedy to you when it happens to a white American. Here’s a suggestion, don’t run 14:23 on an empty track if you don’t want to invite scrutiny either

Emma has competed against 2 dopers who won World/Olympic titles. She was in the prelim where Jeruto ran 9:01. She was in the race Chepkoech ran the World Record. She’s been in this sport for over a decade. I’m sure she is feeling a bit sassy about the entire thing.

I'd like to know more here too, I'd be disappointed if she supports Shelby. I have seen her liking some of Shelby's Instagram posts, but wasn't she also among the group of athletes who signed a letter opposing Houlihan running Olympic trials whilst being banned?

I’d assume she likes Shelby’s instagram because Shelby is still a person. Obviously Emma is very outspoken anti-doping, and did sign that letter about her not competing.
However, Shelby is still claiming that she doesn’t know how it happened and maybe Emma is willing to believe that Shelby just got screwed until she admits she doped.
I feel like you can separate the athlete from the human being. Look at Gatlin and Lance Armstrong

Her angst towards doping should not just extend to black runners she competes with directly. She has liked several of Shelby's instagram posts and has never come out and said anything negative about her. Signing a CSC petition for Shelby not to run at the trials just really isn't enough if she's going to get on her high horse and call out other dopers.
