Background: Advancements in running shoe technology, particularly in the Nike Vaporfly, have been shown to improve running economy. Other brands have now also developed new, advanced shoes with a carbon-fiber plate and thicke...
Asics has caught up to Nike but Saucony, New Balance and Brooks are still laggards. The study looked at VO2. The control non-plated shoe was the Asics Hyperspeed.

I hear you! but comparing VF2s over $150 versus Brooks Glycerin's or NB 1080s for more money. It's just a no-brainer.
Even the Nike Tempos for $200, is insane. Who's buying those instead of the sale VF2s?

I've bought 3 pairs of Nike Tempos at an average of about $100; I've worn two of them but grabbed. My 2 Vaporflies have averaged around $150; I've worn only one of them. Tempos for tempo runs on trails (fairly smooth trails, not technical), vaporflies for workouts on track and road. Have yet to race in the vaporfly.
