Looks to be an unplated light shoe for short distances. They list it as 5/10k specialty racer. I think it would be a better option for reps for someone racing on a track than a much higher stack racer.

Ok this is a pet peeve of mine. I work out at the D1 track and sometimes my runs overlap with the xc/distance team. All the guys wear these high stack bouncy shoes even when running mile pace. Am I mistaken in thinking that it’s worth your time to train ankle strength and your calves and tendons and all that? IMO thin shoes make you more biomechanically efficient and super shoes make you more metabolically efficient

Higher stacked shoes protect the muscles (body) better, because as longer you run, as more impact you catch up. 2.5-3g has to be absorbed somewhere. Lower damage on the body means a faster recovery, means more training possible. 'Cost for cushioning' is a theory from Rodger Kram. Sometimes he posts here. Especially if you are a more heavy runner you feel that quite good and basically the optimal stacked shoe might depend on the runners weight.

Who knows. If you're a track athlete racing in spikes you should probably do some training in spikes, but a successful d1 coach might know way more than me.
