As a former runner from a rival university, the day I told him that I would not be attending Weber, he was disappointed and let me know. That year was going to be his final year coaching and he assured me that he would leave me in good hands, which I had no doubt, but I wanted to attend where my siblings were. My sister and I crossed paths with him during his final track season and he wanted to make sure that our training was going well and even went as far as to talk to our coach about how he could maximize our training. That really stuck with me and I remember him as a very caring, passionate, person. He was intense, but a very good man. He was passionate about excellence and track and field in general. Thank you, Coach Hislop, for your goodness.
