G Fisher had glorious opportunity x2 this past summer. G Fisher, a higher I.Q. type guy was over thinking. Watch 5000m & 1000m W.C. again from the past summer. G Fisher was so concerned about not repeating Steve Prefontaine's racing tactic. G Fisher didn't want to go to the lead with 1100m or 900m to go in either race.
G Fisher cannot race afraid this summer. G Fisher needs to take the lead somewhere between 1100m to 900m to go. If G Fisher is 100% focused on this summer, great! G Fisher needs to race exactly like Steve Prefontaine.
No way. No medals yet. Sports are about winning at the end of the day. I'd take Centros career over Grants any day of the week. There is always going to be an innovation that makes the previous generations times seem slower as well. People remember who medals more than who time trials a fast race.
Nothing wrong abut that. He just was not ready for the big time.
What are you talking about? He's had three top 6 finishes in the last two global contests.
Yeah, so many low effort threads today. He was 5th in Tokyo, 4th and 6th in Eugene. There’s a lot of depth at the top, and the margins between winning a medal and going home devastated are small.
Everybody has bad races and Fisher had one today. Luckily they don’t give out medals in August for how you run in February.

Centro is one of the top 5 middle distance runners in US history. Grant is one of the top 10 distance runners in US history.

And if he ran well today, the same people would be talking about how its only February and it doesn't matter.
I was probably too hard on the guy but he had a great chance to step up and he kind of let his fans down.
And he’d admit as much. But it’s certainly not a “trend.” He’s run great on the big stages with a couple of marginal mistakes/misfortunes denying him a medal. He ran well on the circuit last year too.

He went out in 3:59 and held on, still takes guts. He’s clearly not in top form, his 3k PR suggests he has some more fitness but he’s still in the mix.
In my view, it's not a good idea to make your first race after a long trip to Europe be the key one. Get a rust buster, get over jet lag, and then go for the big one. If he stays in Europe and races again (say, Madrid), he'll run better. He'll still take 7:35 in February for his first race, but obviously, he wants more and thought he was in shape to go faster.
Perhaps the dumbest thing ever heard on letsrun? The guy that in '22 destroyed both of the top 2 in this lieven 3k is all of a sudden is insignificant? Will you need to be reminded every time Grant beats these two this year? Then what will he be?
