Not only no Africans, no other Europeans aside from the expected runners from England and Ireland. A great field, no doubt, but how much better could it have been. My pick is Birnbaum. I've been impressed with his kick. But any number of runners could take it. Hard to predict the winning time. Probably anywhere between high 3:58 and 4:02ish.
It’s still early so hard to make solid predictions but I’ll back Rocky Hansen’s kick against anyone in the country. Others would be wise to drop him before the last lap.
