Where is the entry list posted? The draft-legal "Tritonman" is on February 11, 2023. Hope Quigley does better than Mary Cain did for a debut triathlon or else it's going to be embarrassing for any elite runner claiming they can be competitive in triathlons.
Her IG posts and stories show a lot of biking, swimming and running. Will she transfer to the ITU circuit? Compete for a spot on the 2024 mixed gender relay for tri (like Gwen Jorgensen)? I think with her fitness and abilitie...
Can’t enter elite race without having earned an elite license in previous Tri. The age group women in this race are there to earn a license as the top 3 American that don’t already have one will get one.
I genuinely don't care about this. I tried to care, but it's not exciting to me in the least bit. She's a great runner, that was exciting to watch. This triathlon stuff is just not interesting to me.
What makes you say that? It's a 750m swim, 21K bike, and 5K run. Someone could easily put a couple minutes on her and win even with a much slower run split. Or has Colleen posted some results from workout that lead you to believe she'll be at the front of the swim/bike pack?
If Quigley doesn't outright win her age group, it's going to be considered a big failure. No pressure, Colleen.

Considering how Quigley participates in some of those hobby journalist online bike races to show how badass she thinks she is by smashing them, I think it's fair to say that anything short of an astounding win by Colleen in just her non-pro age group is considered a complete failure.
If she swam in HS, and I don't know if she did, she could be competitive in any sprint triathlon. The Sprint Distance has such a short swim that the most a good swimmer can put on an average swimmer is like 3 minutes. I certainly hope and elite runner could claw back 3 minutes on the bike and run. That said, if there is a real pack with real drafting, she might be dropped before her part of the race even begins. It will depend on the "pack" effect a lot in her case.
Jesse Thomas went from steeple chase to elite (world level) triathlon. He "learned to swim" and committed to making it happen. Who knows if CQ wants to do that.
Sometimes people do things for fun because they are humans. No need for half the posters on this thread to get all amped to see her fail. Schadenfreude isn't the only kind of freude, you know.

Finding out that Peleton workouts are barely a distant cousin to outdoor cycling races might be a harsh reality. Though, I genuinely hope that she succeeds. Though she seems completely insufferable on the outside looking in, she went her own way after her contract dispute with Nike, and you’ve got to respect that.
Show me a very vocal and hateful LRC poster, especially towards successful women, and I'll show you an aging manlet that is no longer relevant at his local Turkey Trot.
On strava it shows she's been having a lot of fun with the cross training. Who knows how she'll do on this first one, at least she's enjoying life and trying something. Rooting for her!
At least she's smart enough to know she'll need drafting assistance on the bike. Because the experienced tri-athetes are skilled enough and have the strategy to target their opponents and make them spend energy on the bike course. I had the privilege of working in a tri-sport store and helped set up the races. I believe Quigley will need the drafting to do well. And it's usually prearranged. If the other athletes are playing to win and spot her. They're going to work her before she gets off the bike.

You should give draft legal a try. Super League has made short course racing really fun to watch.
Anyways, there was a recent thread about Quigley to triathlon a couple weeks ago. The opinion there was that she still wants to focus on the track through 2024. While this isn't a complete shift away from that, Tritonman is one of a handful of elite development races in the US, meaning that if she finishes in the top-3 she can earn her pro card. At that point she'll be able to race in Continental Cups, with the hope of earning enough points to get on a World Cup start list. If folks remember, there's another elite development race in Florida in March that she could do if she's close at this one but doesn't get it.
Your elite license is good for 3 years so maybe the plan is to knock that out and focus on the track. Then she can just jump into elite triathlon races post 2024, without having to go after the qualifying marks. Or maybe it goes well and we see her race some pro events this season. I'm definitely intrigued. There isn't a pro triathlete in short course with her running speed but swim takeout is so important that it won't matter if she's out of the water at the back and can't make the bike paths. If she's serious about triathlon she should spend time racing now & getting her swim up to par.
I think we need to ask the tough questions and I hope she's doing well. She's obviously healthy. Did she have to fake an injury because she reached a deal to "retire" after a potential positive test? I'm not accusing, just brainstorming. Her sudden seizure of racing when on a world class level is suspicious to say the least.
