I thought Galen would run Boston this year. Now I wonder if he retires without ever racing again? I don’t think his personality allows him to just race for top American honors.
Rupps been done for a while. Might as well get as much money doing what you love for as long as you can though! I’m sure Rupp will train and race as long as he makes good money doing it.
He had Haglund's deformity surgery didn't he? Which sounds pretty huge. A lot to come back to elite level from.
He’s fully recovered from Haglund’s. During World’s and NYC, he had a herniated disc in his back causing issues. He went through the half at NYC in 63-ish(?) before his back flared up. Fitness-wise he’s still there but the back is a completely different beast of a problem. His last glimmer of hope may be a diskectomy or so depending on how bad it is.

He is washed and is still the best marathoner in the US.

Which is depressing....
I still think he has a few more good ones in him.
He ran 2:06:35 at Chicago in October 2021, a little over a year ago. The 2:09:30 in the WC last summer.
I think his days of fast times are done but he definitely has a few more 2:08s possibly even 2:07s in him. Which again, would be one of the best US marathoners we have

Yes, why does the US suck so bad at anything over 400m?
