I really counted him out for the past few years but mostly because he is on the beasts. Willing to give him another chance with a new coach, especially one with some past successes. Don’t want to put all of that blame on Mackey though, i also think Seattle is a less than ideal place to train and stay mentally motivated
David said in his post (announcing that he was leaving Brooks) that there would be a final ‘exit interview’ episode coming out. However, given that their most recent episode came out last April, I wouldn’t bet my house on it
Ribich was incredibly popular amongst his teammates. His dismissal is a reminder that this is a business and there is no room for loyalty. Josh Kerr is pissed and simply blaming David’s dismissal on Julie is bad form. Brooks used to be different and pride themselves on being a family. No more.
thought he’d go unsponsored but it seems like UAC is going all in on rebuilding a mens team

Though I’m just an armchair qb, I don’t have a lot of confidence in Ol Pete.

Josh should move with him.
Josh doesn't even train with them anyway. He lives in New Mexico and only runs with them when they come up to altitude train. Last year didn't go the way he wanted, but he still ran 3:48 indoors and 5th at World's in 3:30, doesn't seem like that warrants a coaching change just yet.
Josh understands now that Brooks is not what they pretended to be. Brooks has told all of their athletes through their actions that THIS IS A BUSINESS. That gives Josh permission to ask for the world in his next contract. Loyalty is a 2 way street.
heard David was kind of a d-bag to his teammates. (like crapping on The Athlete Special) hope this experience has humbled him.
I saw him at a track meet handing out Brooks swag to kids and fans in the parking lot when his peers were racing. That is humbling. He seemed like a nice guy though, so I don't know if it is fair to call him a d-bag. Those kind of "conflicts" usually require both sides to be involved in the beef.

I’m surprised to hear that. I read his book, and he always seemed like a kind of down to earth small town type kid.
I've never understood Ribich. Every interview he seems down to earth but he also decided that his story was so unique and interesting that he needs to write a book and co-host a podcast with an Olympic medalist and former D1champ. I haven't read his book or listened to his podcast but to me he just seems like a guy who likes to run with some great results for a D2 guy but I don't see what is book-worthy about his story. Not trying to hate as he's got solid results, I just don't get it.

So you didn't read his book, but you don't see what's book-worthy?
His story is pretty unique.. not so much the pro part, but his going from a 4:14? 1500m kid for 15000 in a small OR HS, to running 3:37 in college is pretty impressive in my eyes.

I'm not sure about your Brooks comments. When Ruth Wysocki beat Mary Decker to win the 1984 OT in the 1500m she was the first brooks athlete to win an OT. They told her she would be a Brooks athlete for life. And as Ruth herself said "apparently I died in 1988"
I would bet money the CEO of the owner of Brooks (Warren Buffett) has never heard of David let alone consider him family.
