Kind of surprising tbh…couldn’t have been making much and a decent training partner for Kerr. Suliman has barely run since joining them. Everyone else is more of an 800/1500 runner. How much longer can they really keep this team going?
Thought he had a good year compared to the others where I thought he was kinda mid. Think he PR’d in the mile and 1500 but apparently that wasn’t close to enough I guess for Brooks. Making US teams are extremely hard and I wish brands thought a little about that before cutting ppl and he made the past two US finals. He deserves another contract w someone
I said this on another thread as well but Ribich should go back to being coached by his college coach. He had his most consistent season and best finish at USAs under his college coach. It was obviously working really well so why fix what isn’t broken?
I know he retired as a college coach but he’s still coaching Derek Holdsworth who had a breakthrough year running 1:45 and making USA Semis
also just to let it be known I’m a notorious Danny Mackey hater, think he’s a mediocre coach
Why does he deserve a contract? He's 27 and run 1:49/3:35/13:24. He's in an event where the top guys can call on 3:29-3:30 when they need it. Why should a shoe company fund someone who is so far away from being competitive?
He was injured a lot of the summer but was running rubbish even before the injury, hope he goes back to Vanhoy now that he’s in a desirable place and has a post collegiate athlete (engles)
I also disagree with the statement that "making US teams are [sic] extremely hard." This is not a golden age for US 1500m running. I don't think it's ever been easier to make the US 1500m team. Anyone who could summon a 3:35 at the right time would make the team. Maybe Kessler will regain his form, Hocker will return strong, and Nuguse will develop with world class training partners, but 2022 was an insanely weak year for the 1500 and Ribich didn't enter the conversation even on the edges
Yeah let’s have like 30 pro track and field athletes total.
If you ain’t an immediate world medal contender you ain’t pro. This will be immensely good for the sport I’m sure, considering the more popular franchises like the NBA and NFL only have 4 or so teams each.

He is too slow for shorter distances but shouldn't someone like him move up to marathon? He does appear to have the physique for it. It's still the least the competitive event in US running.

His value is way beyond his PRs. His media/engagement talents could be used in the corporate offices easily. It sounds like Dave has already landed a deal. Looking forward to following his next chapter.

If he's got his next main sponsor lined up, good for him.
However, with 8k followers on Instagram and less than 2k followers on Twitter, i don't agree that David has "media/engagement talents." These can be superficial metrics, but how else are athletes going to engage with fans (the market) today? And if it's via in-person, at events, being a nice guy, etc., then his current engagement numbers would indicate even greater potential for being a bad investment because it seems like his reach despite being one of the more active members of a "big" pro team are tiny.
Not saying he'll never be a contender (you never know) but also not seeing how he deserves funding based on his results on and off the track up to today...
Him and Kerr had a podcast. They talked up running a 5000. Both bombed. I don’t think David broke 14 minutes and the podcast never returned
I also remember on one episode he said something like I wish I knew how many shoes brooks sold because of me. And I thought you really don’t want to know ! Got nothing against him. Just seemed a bit out of touch with reality
