Running a 1:50 (for 800m) is worlds different from sprinting for 50m every now and again in a football match.
You disrespect the talent levels of athletes when you make these assertions and have clearly never run that fast over 800m yourself or you'd know better.
One thing you're not is a "genetic freak" of grammar.
Had Mbappe at the age of 12 decided to give up football and be a track runner? Quite possible for an athletically gifted person irrespective of their physiology. At this age right now? Basically zero.
There undoubtedly are pro soccer players with the right genetic setup to run sub 1:50 with proper training. Mbappe strikes me as likely being born to be best at the 100, however, not the 800.
Could the average elite 100m guy run sub 1:50 if he decided to make that his goal? No idea, but I doubt it.
Going to say no on this one. He's definitely fast. But I'm not sure if he has the endurance or the body type for it. Sub 1:50 is pretty rare. There probably are pro soccer players who can do it, but they are probably more midfielders and outside backs who look the type.
More like sprinting 50m - 100m a dozen times in 45 minutes as well as 3 or 4 km easy, then doing it again after a 15 minute break. Not entirely unrelated to 800m.
I don't know about 3 months, but if you think there aren't at least 100 professional footballers in Europe who could run sub 2 minutes now, and sub 1:50 after 1 year's training, then you don't understand the different worlds and rewards between athletics and football.
Mbappe earns over 1 million dollars every week, before sponsorship deals and the like.
Marco Aprop won $5K for winning the Birmingham DL 800m this year. That's not much more than the average UK semi-professional non-league footballer earns a month. The worst earning professional footballer will earn more than $5K a month. There are around 13,000 professional footballers in the UK alone, so probably at least 50,000 in Europe as a whole.
Any kid with any footballing talent is not likely to even train for the 800m semi-seriously, no matter how much talent he might display for the 800m.
I always wondered if it's an American thing to think that just because someone is great at one sport they would be great at another.
I remember Mark Gastineua (sp) of the NY Jets talking about winning the Heavy Weight Championship in boxing. He had a few fights, literally punched like a girl, got beat up and went back to football.
All these NFL running backs (and the fans and even announcers) who think they have world class sprinting speed.
I remember Brent Musberger talking about a running with World Class speed!!! I looked him up- his best 100 was 10.5! That's my high school's record.
The World Cup stars show up for a track meet. What event do you put them in? One player per event. Here is my lineup so far100 M - Messi - he’s quick but doesn’t have the top end speed110 hurdles - Mbappe200, 400...
