Is the stadium gated off and locked up?
Ashlong as your shorts arent <5in and you have a shirt on, you'll be safe from 12.
track is behind/beside the school. has a gate but it's left open
bro just do it you aren't hurting anybody tracks are paid for by public tax dollars
and you can easily outrun police if they show up (unless you're some 4 minute 800 scrub)
If the gate is open then I would assume it is open to the public.
If the gate’s open it’s fair game. Nobody will care enough to harass you for “trespassing” if they have failed the most basic measure of security.

No. If you want to hit your goals this season you should be out on the roads & trails... It's too soon for track work. Listen to mom on this one.

Just don't go during the high school's practice or while the school is in session.
Some people do 4+ mile tempos on the track
If the gate is open then just do it. Stay away during school hours to avoid attracting attention. Likely you'll make it through your break without incident. Worst case for a first offense is someone asks you to leave.
Reminds me of a funny story during the pandemic. We had been hoping the fence at a local high school and playing soccer on their all weather field. They had a panic bar on the gate so once you got inside you could just open the gate for others. We did it regularly for weeks, months, etc. Eventually more and more people started joining us. I remember one nice sunny weekend day there were like 100+ people out there. Some on the track, a few groups playing soccer, a strength and conditioning coach out there with his paid clients (because he couldn't get an actual permit at any public facilities during the shutdowns). A police officer showed up and went around from group to group. He basically said you all look like you're having a great time but someone called and reported you so I had to stop by. He told us to continue on.
Weird how High School Tracks were ALWAYS OPEN to the Public during non School Hours, Then they started Building Fences and Locking them so The Public could not use Them (Some jump the Fence, But they put up signs not for Public Use) I can not think of any reason for not allowing the Public be able to run on them, after all Tracks were open for Public Use Probably as long as they have had Tracks, then about 10 Years ago they stopped allowing the public to use them, I have no Idea Why?

At the track the OP is referring to, he's probably OK because the gate is open. But just because the public pays for the facility does not mean they get access to it. It may be because of liability but the public has abused the privilege in many cases.
Did you run track at this school? Why not see if the school's coach or AD will give you permission?
No one will even give a F**k if you are there. I run on the local high school track all the time and no one cares one bit. lol
Skip the workouts and do a 15 mile easy run with 2000ft of elevation gain.
I have broken into plenty of tracks, even ones with fences around them. As long as you are an athlete and doing a workout, nobody should bother you.
If you're a college-aged runner, most people who don't know you will assume you are a student.
Just look around for any signs, if it does say no trespassing, then don't do it, it doesn't, free game and if the police come and bother you about trespassing, say I'm sorry I did not know that, I thought it was open to the public, plus I did not see any signs, I'll leave immediately. No cop is going to hassle you though, go do your workout and enjoy your winter break.
