Matter and anti-matter can spontaneously form out of nothing, and can combine to form nothing, which is the only way we can mathematically explain some things. It’s sort of the equivalent of “the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell” for theoretical physicists as in everyone learns to repeat it but hardly anyone understands what exactly it means.
100% speculation. If what you claim is true, then we just solved all energy problems. We won’t ever have to worry about depleting fossil fuels or lack of wind because “matter can spontaneously form out of nothing”. Human beings are all-knowing Gods who can understand all of the facets of the universe…because if we can understand how matter is created out of nothing, as you claim, then we can harness it.
A google search would yield you better results, but taking the bait for fun.. Sean Carroll would be a good place to start for astronomy beginner fun. We have observed for decades what seems to be the universe expanding by looking at galaxies in all directions moving away from us. It is natural to then say- if we rewind the clock where did the start? That start, as the theory goes, is about 14 billion years ago with the Big Bang. We simply don't know what happened before then and the Big Bang theory has a lot of other problems other than what you stated (though what you stated isn't 100% true as there are other theories than "nothing"). It is a prediction made that we now attempt test. This theory has given great insight into our universe, but you are not wrong in seeing that it is flawed. You are perhaps flawed in thinking that scientists don't also think so (if that is your thinking).
The Big Bang is the term that scientists use to describe the beginning of the universe. In this video, Fermilab’s Dr. Don Lincoln clears up many common misco...

They dont really know. its a decent model to explain some of the observed things but its not validated in any way. Its very likely in the future our understanding will be different and another model will be the most common one.
As every scientist would tell you: we don't know. The Big Bang theory is just our best guess based on the evidence available, which so far is supported by observations scientists have made of our universe.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm announced a “major scientific breakthrough” Tuesday in the decades-long quest to harness fusion, the energy that powers the sun and stars.

To me It's called Father (or Mother) Creation. Father of all the Universes and Beyond. But is something impossible for us to understand if you use what is called scientific method. Is it like if a bacteria would like to see a sunset, or a landscape or a concert of music. They simply cannot do it , they dont have the instruments to do that .We as human, I think is not allowed to us to discover the real secret behind creation. But we can feel the vibration of father God in every day life , in the nature , we are part of God and when we die we are still part of God , I mean you cannot escape this Universe also if your body is burn to ashes . We will always be here. Then there is another problem . Are there also parallele universe ? What really happens when we leave our body? Or simple the human being overstimates himself. The ability we have to fly in the space , or to build personal computer , is no more of the ability of a butterfly or a bee that fly from flower to flower? I just think we all are part of the Creation and we need to grow this awereness more and more in our life till we are ONE with it
The Big Bang Theory, more formally known as the Lambda CDM model, absolutely positively does not say that something formed from nothing. That's scientific hogwash made up by the evangelical Christian community. The actual model simply states that the universe is migrating from a hot and extremely dense state, from a period called the planck epoch, to a cooler and less dense state. It never attempts to make a prediction on what occurred before the planck epoch because we do not yet have a quantum theory of gravity. Everyone should know the basics behind the model before making asinine assumptions about it.
Okay, okay, okay. My first question: why in the he11 are you asking stupid questions about The Big Bang Theory on a running forum? First of all, the only person in that show who doesn't look like they are out of shape and overweight is Penny. She looks like she runs, but, I digress. It's literally a television show and the writers can do whatever they want. After all of that funny monkey business that I just said, here's the deal. This show, just like someone else said in one of their replies, is based around a group of college scientists who live their lives in a very unrealistic fashion. If you have ever watched Young Sheldon, and I recommend it, there are a lot of things that, in the actual Big Bang Theory show, were explained. For example: why Sheldon says "Bazinga" or why Sheldon goes to the same comic store and sits in the same spot everyday, or why Sheldon loves "Radio Shack." But anyways, if you want to post stupid sh!t on a forum, then join a discord chat.
What we know is that things in the universe are moving away from each other. So it's logical everything was previously condensed into a single point.
We can't ever know what happened before the universe was in this state or why it expanded because the mathematics of physics break in a universe of infinite density. If gravity or time etc are not calculable then it's impossible to study.
For this reason the furthest back we can observe is the moment when the universe began to expand, known as the Big Bang. The theory doesn't say everything was created at this point, just this is the earliest point anything becomes observable. It's entirely possible there was another universe before, or not, but we will never ever know.

An incorrect assumption. You are using your understanding of the Newtonian World (the one we can see) to explain the quantum world.
So, seriously oversimplifying things:
- initially there was no matter, only energy.
Where did the energy come from:
- energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only change state. Energy and matter are equivalent as Mr Einstein told us with his famous E=Mc^2 equation i.e. energy can create mass and visa versa.
- we also need to remember that the Big Bang created both space and time.
Because it created time, there is no before.
So that gives us the conditions for the Big Bang to happen and create the Universe. We don't need anything to be formed out of nothing. It doesn't work like that!
The current models explain pretty much everything after the first tiniest fraction of time (10 e-43 seconds - "Plank Time"). From time=0 to the end of Plank Time is unclear, but beyond that, the model are sound. As for what happened during Plank Time, there there are some excellent models, but evidence which favours one model over another is unclear.
Nevertheless, the current models "do not require a God to light the blue touch paper", as Hawking put it. They work without third party input!
Regardless, to better understand what happen requires a detailed understanding of quantum mechanics. Without this, the quantum world will be one filled with strangeness, but also filled with charm (LOL - ROFL).
When the universe begins to expand, it won’t be spreading out to fill a larger emptiness. The only space that exists is the space it creates as it goes.
The singularity has no “around” around it. There is no space for it to occupy, no place for it to be.
Time doesn’t exist. There is no past for it to emerge from.
And so, from nothing, our universe begins.
In three minutes, 98 percent of all the matter there is or will ever be has been produced. We have a universe. It is a place of the most wondrous and gratifying possibility, and beautiful, too. And it was all done in about the time it takes to make a sandwich.
