Pacemaking has turned the marathon from pure racing in to time trials.
I don't see the point.
Gidey can barely be seen here. a
Why not just sit behind a bus? Why would this attract any sports fans (other those who are simply addicted to times). There is literally nothing to see. The drama, the racing, the beauty of competition, are completely lost.
Pacemaking is like another form of drugs and the sport is losing spectators. I bet that we would see more interest if pure racing was back. Even people on letsrun with addictions to times, were much more enthusiastic about NYC this year. Remember duel in the sun? It's all about the drama. It reminds me that in swimming they ban the amount of underwater swimming - at least part of this is for the audience.
More so, Amane and other complained about not helping her to break the WR in the last few miles. WTF!?
This whole thing is going the wrong direction and joining the shoe technology, the PEDs (and even causing it to increase).
Stop the pacemaking in marathons. It has become boring and ridiculous.
Save the marathon!
