He totally is!!! He’s won like 4 championships for NAU in XC. Remember he initially committed to Oregon and then flipped to NAU. That once decision changed changed a lot for NAU.
He got a lot of criticism coming out of high school and was labeled as a flash in the pan, just another top high school runner that couldn’t cut it at the next level, blah, blah, blah… He has more than proved his worth and mettle. He falters, so does NAU. We’ll deserved.

For iPhone users. I just switched from an android. My phone always autocorrects “well” to “we’ll.” I can change that, right?

settings>general>keyboard, then turn off autocorrect
It seems like he spends indoor/outdoor season injured & then shows up fit for xc. I remember him in hs being a near sub 4 kid. I’m surprised he is better at xc than track but maybe he’s never been able to put together a full track season. He is clutch though
Honestly, he was clutch in high school xc, as well. How many times did he run less than stellar early but then come up big in November and December? I remember at least two years. Absolute gamer.
It will be interesting to see his likely post collegiate transition to the marathon. That in race patience and ability to put it together for one race will translate well to the thon.
Totally is. Said this in another thread but every year he comes up huge when it matters most. Not just at the national meet, but especially in the last few Ks. Always moves up well and helps the team. Great to see.
The sentiment on this board when he was in high school was that he was some kind of selfish, go it alone prima donna, a privileged kid who just looked out for himself with paid pacers, a private coach, letting his high school team down by not running for them, and getting set up races to break barriers.
At NAU he has demolished that entire narrative, doing nothing but running for the team and helping them get four national cross country championships.
Wow, praise for someone who didn’t win. Well done, commenters.
Would love to know your best D1 NCAA xc finish or even any of your PRs. The amount of slow dorks on here that hate on guys who are minutes faster than them is hilarious.
