They actually stopped the World Series last night to make this announcement.
Fox being a savvy network, waited until after the bottom of the ninth to make the announcement, stunning the crowd and making players from both teams pause and reflect. Dusty Baker was visibly upset and had to be consoled.
Some say this break in the action led to the Astros defeat, as they simply didn’t recover :(
Father Time is undefeated, she does not take a long enough time to recover after races at this stage of her career/age and as a result chronic injuries.

The last 2 months I’ve poured more into this sport than I ever have to overcome this IT band injury and be ready for @nycmarathon — but unfortunately this tendon was too stubborn and I won’t be lining up next weekend.
I’m always so grateful for the people in this with me but never more than in times like this. And so thankful to do something I love so much and miss so terribly. There was never a question whether I wanted to still do this and if all the effort was worth it— and I know it will all pay off at future starting lines. Good luck to everyone racing! Enjoy those magical streets ✨
She dropped out weeks ago. It was just made public now. There was no way in hell she would be in top shape for NYC after dropping out of the last race. Wonder what she's going to go for in 2023. She toyed with the idea of running an ultra, but I don't see that happening for her ever.

No cash in ultras. Doubtful it'd be worth putting in the work.
I am normally a fan of your observations, howevever popular - or not - they may be with the masses. (This confession will, of course, not endear some readers with me!) However....
The pressure of being the main breadwinner for the family must not be easy.
You have never mentioned anything of this sort when referring to a male pro runner. It may or may not offend you if Sara financially supports Ryan. For the record, I don't believe she does, but that's just what I believe and we don't really need to know to illustrate the point I intend to make.
In all the Rupp threads - I think there have been hundreds - you never once pointed out that he has the pressure of supporting an unemployed wife and several other people. Is this why he's runnning NYC? 'Who cares' is what I say, but when a female is (possibly) supporting a (conceivably) freeloading male, is that somehow wrong? I am not saying it is, but if you believe so, then you must really be offended by Kipchoge's wife, who has never seen the inside of a place of employment.
Or is a husband supporting a wife somehow different than a wife supporting a husband. If one is cool, they both are. If one is wrong, they both are. If unemployed husbands are slacking freeloaders, then so are the wives of every pro athlete in every sport, now that TB12 is divorced. I only ask for non-sexist consistency.
The value of a homemaker has been devalued by modern feminism. A great many problems plaguing America can be traced to children not being raised in a traditional two-parent household.

The IT band isn't a tendon. How does a pro runner get to the point of not running a race because of an injury, without feeling the need to get even the most basic info about that injury?!

This is very true.
Uhh....I think they are a 2 parent household. And flexible at that. But otherwise good point???
Hey how about this! She fricking rules, is very positive, total beast mode runner, and we all hope she gets better!

🤦♀️ Maybe you would feel better correcting medical professionals found online, e.g.,
The iliotibial band (ITB) is a tendon that runs along the outside of your leg. It connects from the top of your pelvic bone to just below your knee. A tendon is thick elastic tissue that connects muscle

Better be Budapest WC cuz she’s never making an Olympic team
Lancaster Orthopedic Group’s hip specialists provide comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for all hip conditions, including iliotibial band tendinitis.
You're seriously trying to argue that because fascia connects to muscles, it's the same thing as tendons because tendons also connects to muscles? Do you also think that fascia and bones are the same thing then? I don't even know what links to point you at because the sentence "fascia and tendons are not the same thing" is never going to make it into a reputable science journal, but this review article has some helpful explanations of what fascia is and how it relates to tendons and other soft tissue:
Although fasciae have long interested clinicians in a multitude of different clinical and paramedical disciplines, there have been few attempts to unite the ensuing diverse literature into a single review. The current article...
This ridiculous argument is kind of illustrating the point though. A quick google like you've done is not going to throw up information with the level of accuracy and detail that are needed to understand an injury. If you're a pro runner with that injury, it would make sense to work a bit harder than a basic google.
Also just FYI in case it's ever useful for your own injury treatment, if a website refers to something as "tendinitis," it's outdated and there is better, more up-to-date info out there. It's been accepted for what, at least 10 years now, that what we used to call tendinitis is more properly considered tendinopathy.
