Ouch..did the social media intern really think they had the chops to take down Colorado???

Generally the person in charge of media for XC knows little (and cares less) about XC. They just try to post something that sounds positive and move on. Not a big deal...
Same thing has happened in my HS’ league. The year we were good, we didn’t run our real team in league meets, and instead ran our JV team, but other teams would brag about defeating us.
Also embarrassing that there is no incentive to race or regularly put a true travel squad on the start line.
NCAA cross country is not compelling or fun to follow.
I feel like a win is a win. If Colorado chose not to put their best players on the line, that is their choice. They still lost that particular meet.

I agree with this, but in this particular case Colorado's "A" team was at Nuttycombe that weekend. I don't see anything wrong with getting more races in for the rest of the team, nor would I consider it a real "win" for Arizona
They also were featured on the NCAA IG page touting "Championship Season" ..... the only problem is they never bring a full team to regionals.... which is part of "Championship Season"
Exactly.
Cowards wouldn't even show up to regionals last year.

They ran their A team at a bigger meet that weekend. So it's not embarrassing at all.
It depends on the school....my AD and press relations were just as invested in our sports as they were in the other sport. Generally, the people typing up the press releases didn't really have that much to do so they needed to get to every sport to fill up their 40 hours
Did a race involving U of Arizona and Colorado happen? YES. Did Arizona runners put up a better score than the runners in Colorado uniforms? YES. Therefore, Arizona defeats Colorado and can proclaim victory. Go Wildcats!
Give it a rest, Buffalo fanbois! There are no designated development teams or JV squad in NCAA. It doesn't mean anything in the long run and no one is harmed by Arizona getting a little ego boost. We'll see what happens at PAC-12, regionals, and NCAA Champs. Until then, let the fans in Tucson smile a bit.
The post was accurate, Arizona beat Colorado at that meet. AZ publicists have no reason to report on Nuttycombe.
Actually, Colorado sent their “B” team to the B race at nuttycomb which they won. Arizona is boasting a win over the Colorado “C” team
say my name. that's AZ state XC
And both teams got absolutely trounced by Adams State (DII) at this meet

I agree. Not a big deal, BUT they did call out Colorado as being the defending Pac-12 champs which gives the perception that they beat the "Actual" Pac-12 Champs. Not to mention they placed 4th at the meet one place ahead of Colorado, nothing really to brag about or celebrate. If they won the meet maybe give them a pass, but they weren't even close. The Cats have ZERO room to talk smack at ANY level right now.
Just shut up and run...and Bear Down!

This.
In boring sports social media, “topple” is one of 100 synonyms for a win.
Some PR staffer is charged with writing copy for a sport in which teams don’t even send their best athletes, and you want them to study whether Colorado sent Tom or just Joe?
Does anyone think that anyone cares?
Absolute truth! You've got 15 minutes to get something about the XC team online.
Checks score.
Sees that the team beat a conference rival.
Has quotes about the win from the coach.
Perfect! You have what you need to write a favorable puff piece about a minor sport. Get it posted and now move on to your priority for the day (no kidding), interviewing football players about their favorite candy and video games. That footage is needed for in-stadium filler entertainment on the video board during timeouts.
You can just beat the team put in front of you. If 3 top starters are out of an NFL game it is still a win.

This isn't the NFL, can people stop comparing running to team sports like football. There is no circumstance in Football where it is beneficial to split your team up for multiple games.
