Wow! Much better than expected for both women. If the time holds, Ayana breaks Y^2's marathon debut record by 1 second. Expect them to both be contenders at majors, and Ayana in particular has to have a shot at the WR now at her next races.
This was with a very conservative 69:25 first half too!

You have to remember that the marathon on both sides is still really untapped in terms of performance depth.
On the men’s side, a pseudo-washed Bekele ran 2:01:41. A prime Bekele probably runs 2:00:20 with no gimmicky pacing.
On the women’s side, once a lot of the 14:20 5k women start running the marathon, we’ll see tons of 2:14s like we just saw last week.

I agree - there's no reason Radcliffe's 2:15 should have been such an outlier for so long. Simply because not enough talented track women were moving up to the marathon
I mean really. Who cares about this. When these places clean up their act then maybe we can start talking legitimate times. Right now its as fake as WWE and I give them 0 credit.
I am sure they are very worried about the credit you give them .

Max 1500m potential in early to mid-20's then train for Marathon and race Marathon from 32 times to 37 times 1500m personal best. Genzebe Dibaba's Marathon was 36 times her 1500m personal best.

If most runners gave themselves to age 25 to go all out for 1500m then switch to Marathon training, we would see the vast majority of Marathoners racing Marathon (34 to 36.5) times 1500m personal best. Not too many men or women train all out for 1500m to age 25 then dedicate themselves to Marathon training from age 25 to age 32. Rod Dixon on the men's side and Greta Waitz on the women's side.

Definitely this. Remember, with the shoes, 2:17 mid is the new 2:20. If we take that attitude an expected number of women are running these amazing times. This run furthers my suspision that Gidey breaks the record, and on a good day she'll take it down to 2:12.

I wonder if the time was such an outlier that people just didn't bother targeting it at all. Why try to run 2:15 and probably blow up when you can run 2:20 and win almost everything out there?
It was an outlier, super shoes happened and it’s now attainable. Radcliffe in super shoes = 2:12
I highly doubt that super shoes give the elite 3 minutes. If true, then not only would Radcliffe still be the best, but also Kimetto + E. Mutai + Kipsang + Makau + Haile would all be faster than Kipchoge + Bekele + all the other stars since 2016.
(OK, Radcliffe and Haile ran those times pre-ABP, but the others not. )
