So many good marathoners in Kenya. It is possible we get Amos Kipruto, Evans Chebet and Benson Kipruto if the old man gets older and starts running 2:05 to 2:10. Will there be a global outcry? Am sure this is bigger news if it happens compared to Bekele not being at the Olympics
I certainly hope to see him for the threepeat and for another dominant victory, but this is also a possibility
I would NOT choose a then almost 40 year Eliud Kipchoge in 2024. It makes little sense for Kenya to pick the old man when you have younger talented runners who can beat him.

He just ran 2:01. 09 after running an insane 59:51 who are these younger runners who can beat him?

It's hard to say whether he would care. He already has Olympic accolades. There is bigger money out there for a spring and fall Marathon.

Maybe he should change his nationality to American as whatever time he runs, he will still be faster than every American that the USA will send to Paris

Probably will also be the case for the 2028 Olympics in LA lol

The EOC and EAF are effed up like that, the Kenyans not as much.
I believe the new and improved testing for EPO is going to be introduced in 2024 in time for the Paris Olympics.
I expect Kipchoge to retire in 2024 and rule himself out of Paris, claiming that 'he has achieved everything he wanted to in the sport'. 90% of people here will nod their head and agree and kiss his feet.

2:05 would be a blistering Olympic time, and pretty much a guaranteed win on the revealed course. There is zero reason not to select him - 2:01 less than a year out?? If this was 2028 I can understand raising the question, but no other athlete is as nailed-on. You’re right, it would be bigger (Although would love to see Bekele there too). The whole presentation of the marathon itself, in fact, with the mass event in Paris in the past year and the way that it is marketed and planned, has all the hallmarks of a Kipchoge-special media event like his sub-2 attempts and the NN Running group. The IOC and Paris 2024 committees are themselves banking on Kipchoge running - never mind Kenya selectors

Completely true, but don't forget how capricious the Kenyan selectors have been over the years.
Kipchoge is dominant, but he's not invincible. He was 8th at London a couple of years ago. What if that happens again just before Paris? Do we even know how the team will be selected this time?
If he's not selected for Paris, he'll go to Berlin one last time and run sub-2 to show the selection committee the mistake they made. He'll then retire as the GOAT athlete of any sport.
