And Trump voters will be furious at this decision.
I was just talking to one of my friends yesterday who was saying no violence occurred on January 6th at the Capital and Alex Jones should not be accountable for saying Sandy Hook was a hoax. I haven't asked him about this, but I would guess he will say it's ridiculous to give someone a life sentence for using their 2nd amendment rights. And my friend is not a unique Trump voter. He's the average one who thinks the same as the rest.

I think a lot of people probably not happy, it had to be a unanimous decision and one juror held out for a life sentence.

A friend? It sounds like you need new friends.
The shooter got what he deserved. A death sentence would have been too light. Now hopefully he will meet the same fate as Dahmer did in prison and get bludgeoned to death. If not that, hopefully he is tormented and forcibly raped and made to give oral sex so often that he will put himself out of misery.

The only person killed on 1/6 waas an unarmed protester. It was a largely non-violent demonsration (despite the media claims 3 cops got killed that went on for a month after it was known to be false).
Alex Jones has the right to free speech. The people who harrassed the parents can be held liable for their actions -- but to say Jones is responsible for their actions if dishonest (that was the case).
DE Santis called for death. Is that what you wanted?
life sentence was the minimum once he changed his plea anyway, I cannot believe this guy didn't get a death penalty.
Didn't mean to sound snarky. And even though most of us probably disagree with the life sentence, his lawyer saved his bacon by getting him to plead guilty. Had he pled not guilty that would certainly have sent him to fry.

I'm a conservative and I say he should have been hung shortly after they captured him. What are you talking about "using their 2nd amendment rights?" None of us gun owners thinks we have a right to murder a bunch of people. Get the F out of here with that garbage.

haha no problem, I think you just have more faith in the legal system than I do. I was sceptical that they'd somehow manage to wiggle him out of a just sentence (ie: 'ruling for something less').
While they're different scenarios, I'm still completely confused by the George Zimmerman and Kyle Rittenhouse outcomes (not that I want, or need to go into that here) which is why I was so sceptical
And if he was black he would have been dead before he made it out of his house. Disgusting that we are wasting money every year to let this guy live after what he did.

The outcomes were surprising because the news and “facts” you heard were not true. Perhaps you should seek out different sources of information, and then the outcomes won’t be surprising or confusing.

You’re either a troll, in which case 1/10, or you’ve lost perspective on reality. Possibly you’re suffering from what I’ve heard referred to as trump derangement syndrome? Whatever the label, you do need some professional help. I hope you get what you need.

Politically I’m moderate and believe that 2nd amendment rights need to be protected. I vote candidates not parties.
I agree sbeefyk2’s post is off base. Trump is a horrible person and I do not agree with the majority of his followers though I would have to believe that a minuscule number of them would agree with gun violence and murder.
The point that was being made, though not effectively, was that after the shooting there were a good number of hard core conservatives that dug in even harder against sensible gun reform. Some see this and feel that those people are not sympathetic to tragedies such as Parkland. Whack jobs like Alex Jones did not help with those perceptions.
I own guns, I hunt, and I conceal carry. I do, though, agree with common sense reform. I don’t want guns in the hands of people that are whack jobs. What is the big deal about a background check unless you have something to hide and shouldn’t have a gun to begin with?

A football coach, an athletic director and young, fresh-faced students were among the 17 people killed by a gunman at a high school in Parkland, Florida, in 2018.
of all the types of purity-spiral threads, this is the worst.
All you death-penalty freaks are lying to yourselves about being angry over a murder. You want to kill someone. Kill, kill, kill. Nothing to do with justice, just petty feelings within you, over something that isn't even personal! You're the collosseum fan thumbs-downing a gladiator. That's the purity on display here.
Deny it all you want now, one day you'll admit it to yourself, and that's what matters.
