NAU is loaded once again. But so is Stanford, and OSU should be dangerous on its home course. Who will win it all in '22? *MB: Jonathan Gault unveils his top 10 men's NCAA xc teams. Agree or disagree?
Air Force bringing back their whole Top 7, led by the 7:47,13:25 Gilman should be top 10. They underperformed at NCAAs last year after what they did during the rest of the season. We'll see it this weekend at OSU.
Regarding the honorable mentions, Danny Kilrea is not back this year for Notre Dame. The Stride Report confirmed this months ago and yet I still see it everywhere on the boards and in other publications.
I wondered that myself but then realized a) they lost one of their studs form last year and b) lost the HYP meet.
Harvard has had the problem the last few years of having a solid top 3 but a big gap between them and the remaining scorers. Hopefully their #4 and #5 develop in the next 6 weeks to get another auto berth. I'm curious how they will fair at Nuttycombe in a few weeks. HepsXC this year is at VCP. I don't think the results from that course are going to be too indicative of how the team fairs at Nationals at OK State (I know Harvard is supposed to race there this weekend, but I think it's too soon in the season to compare with potential national race results).
A note to Andy Powell ... Mac Fleet was terrible at cross country. He scored for them once. Not the guy you want to use to make your point. Centrowitz is the only 1500 guy who ever did anything in cross.
I think the Harvard team is full of true distance guys and should benefit from 10ks at regionals and nationals. The meet at HYP was a 6k so maybe a factor. They run at okst this weekend.
Dave Smith is such a slimeball. You have a college kid who made "bad decisions" and you air that dirty laundry with an internet gossip rag before even dealing with it? That whole brat pack of Smith, Metcalf, et al are perpetual adolescents.
