Both are #1 at their craft. I prefer Jakob. Some of his competition probably IS cheating, but he doesn’t whine about it and withdraw from races after he loses. Magnus may be the poorest sport of all time.
Probably Greta Waitz set the Marathon World Record Multiple times, won I believe 9 NYC Marathons back when NYC and Boston (Fukuoka was Men Only) Were the Big Marathons. J. Ingebrigtsen is Very Good but needs World Records Waitz, Warholm and Ingrid Kristiansen are 3 Norwegians who had or have World records, Jakob may someday get a World Record, but he is not there yet.

None of which determines who is a bigger star. The bigger star isn't always the best.
We can have them duke it out to see who's best in a chess 10k on the track.
The board will be at the start line. Magnus starts there and Jakob starts at the 200m start line. When the gun goes off Magnus makes the first move and they both start running. Jakob gets to the board and makes his move, then runs another lap, Magnus makes a move when he finishes his first lap, and so forth until the chess game is over, Jakob catches Magnus, or it goes all 25 laps with no result for a draw.
It would be interesting to see if Magnus could checkmate Jakob in few enough moves to avoid getting caught.
OP as a Norwegian you probably know the right people to set this up.

But it is all based on perspective. Most of the posters here don’t know who Greta was much less lived through the era when she dominated.
Of course most people here do not think she is comparable to Jakob.
The next generation will not think of Jakob as a big deal either. Will he be legendary like Greta? We don’t know that yet.

Bjørn Dæhlie is probably the biggest star and he retired long ago.
Yeah, I'm not really qualified to say who the bigger stars in Norway are, was just pointing out that sometimes a person is a bigger star even if someone else has a more attractive resume on paper.
You wouldn't think that chess players, who sit for hours on end and extend their arms only from time to time, would struggle with weight loss. But they do. Inside the very real, very bizarre metabolic phenomenon gripping ches...
