5:09 avg pace at 20k championship on a course with some elevation gain (250-275ft). That would put her a couple seconds ahead of the current half AR if she went for another .6.
Mantz's victory more impressive bc of the competition he beat, but Keira's time is more impressive to me. America has a real contender.
Keira D'amato is someone who should be celebrated. She gives so much hope and inspiration to many because of her story of stopping running, then coming back to be better than eve and beat records. It's also so powerful to do it at her age. Go Keira!
Yeah, FloJo quit running, took a job working in a bank, started running again, and smashed world records that still stand 34 years later. Very inspiring.

Sorry but back then, it was easy to get away with cheating.
Chicago tribune:
Robinson, once a top U.S. quarter-miler, says he sold human growth hormone to Griffith Joyner, received steroids from Kersee, watched Lewis get an injection of what ''might have been testosterone'' and saw Tellez dispense ''blue pills . . . that looked like dianabol.''

Isn't that the definition of a suspicious performance? Came out of nowhere to dominate?? Why is she getting a pass for this?
She is getting a pass because hearsay from letsrun doesn't mean anything and evidence does.
Insights into her training. Some solid Harry Potter discussion. Thoughts about the AR in the 5k. And yet another pro who tries to stay off of LRC. Why is that??? She responded directly to the doping thread after she dropped h...

Not just that but also, she has always been very engaged in helping her local running community, even before her comeback to competitive running began.
I don't know, I find her story inspiring. We all likely have stories of getting our butts kicked by older runners who only started taking it seriously later in life. Maybe the downtime is what prolonged her career. Not everyone is a Deena or Meb. If she had continued, she might have burned out by 28.

Mantz's time was roughly equivalent to the women's WR for the half. I would not consider it that impressive.

Hardcore disagree. A good elite Men's half is being won with a new WR time and time again. Mantz is our best bet at a semi-competitive marathoner, but his times will never be enough to beat the Tola's, Gerimeu's, even a Geoffrey Kamworer who is struggling to recover still. KD can compete with every female in her race, the same cannot be said of Mantz regardless of his result this weekend (which is still deserving of flowers, just not the bouquet KD deserves)
