Tuohy hid an injury last year just to help NC State win a national title, and she also fell before the mile mark yet still finished top 15. It looks like Tuohy and Chmiel are both healthy now so we will see who's the better runner on the field.

If she's healthy Tuohy has an excellent chance to win it all.
Chmiel should be a contender also. A few years back I argued she belonged in the top five on the high school all decade crosscountry team. She was 4th, 5th, 2nd and 2nd at NXN and in a normal cycle without Tuohy she would have been a two time winner. She also won at the Great Edinburgh. In college she is first team AA in XC her first three years and has two top ten XC finishes. Add to that 1st team AA honors on the track in the 10000, 5000 and 3000. So yes, she is tremendous college runner. That's why NCST is loaded.
No need to pit them against eachother, they make each other better! BUT, yea if were talking about last year then yea she wasnt their top xc runner, but katelyn entered 2022 and became awholenother beast, so I can't wait to see how she does this fall !

On the track, clearly its Tuohy over Chmiel.
What was the injury Tuohy had last XC season? Genuine question...first I’ve heard of this.
I was aware of how she fell in the national race.
It’s no shame to finish behind Chmiel. Chmiel was 6th at nationals last year. If both are healthy this year, both should be top 5 at nationals.

In one of the interviews after the indoor 5000 or 3000 I recall she said something about having something minor that she did not report so that she could keep training during XC. Apparently it got resolved when she took time off during December into January.

tendonitis, not a stress fracture. it wouldn't have affected her training much, if at all.
