Jordan Hasay a few years ago was running very good marathon times - around 2:23. And D'Amato was running 2:30-ish. Now Hasay is running 1:17 for a half and D'Amato is running 2:19ish. Oh how the times have changed! Not sure for the better. Something fishy is going on.

As always, I think talking about "record attempt" of almost any kind is baloney. The exception would be when it is organic and everybody other than the runner(s), or at least besides the runner(s), expects it. An example of the appropriate time to hype a world record attempt would be the US men's 4x100 race Vs. Jamaica.
