I wonder how much training is necessary to go for a sub 48 or wr attempt. Could she break 48 this year In the open? Or would she need a full training cycle
What really impressed me is that she did this two days after her insane 400mH world record. Her body is still recovering from that run.
Michael Johnson ran a 42.9 leg, three tenths faster than his WR. Michael Norman has run a 43.06 split, four tenths faster than his PB. So McLaughlin could almost certainly run a 48.3, just for starters. I’m guessing she’ll get close to 48, or break it, in the next year, barring injury.
Uh, I had 47.73 on my Timex watching the live feed. I'm pretty good on the watch, so I've been told. So it's more like 47.7. Let's give credit where credit is due.
American record is 48.7, I think, so lets see if she can break that one first.
The American record is actually the goal for this year. I don't see her ever breaking the WR, she is much further away from that than most people think. To even make a serious attempt she would need to become a 200/400 athlete exclusively for a period of time. There is no way she is going to do that with unfinished business in the 400h and I know she what test herself in the 100h. Btw, next year, she will be able command $100 for a WR; she is not about to walk away from the 400h with so much food left on the table.

She screwed up by lowering it so much. She could of took a half second off each time and gotten multiple checks.
