Just realized that this "Second Era" Jager got the same place today (6th) as the 7:56ish fitness Evan Jager of 2015 in those World Champs. I think that reflects on both how disappointing that finish was in Beijing for Jager (even lost to Dan Huling) and how well he did today, finishing ahead of Bor.
I think every steeplechase should have a random camera man somewhere on the course...it fits the spirit of the race.
Another idea...hungry wolves that prowl around the course and pick off runners who've fallen off the pack. Would give the race more of a 'hunger games' sort of energy.

They might have already started to target-test him back then, see his tragicomic 5 stars out of 3 as Likely Doper in February 2016.
