University of Minnesota is looking to be down this year too. They finished 21st at nationals but lost their 1-6. The transfers they have coming in will be in their top 7 but won’t turn this team into a national caliber team.
I posted a thread very similar to this a while ago. If I recall, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Syracuse, and Boston College were all incredibly bad. I could be misremembering.

I don’t think you understand.
At XC regionals last year, there were 205 finishers. Winning time was 29:50.

Evansville runners finished:
179 (34:11)
192 (35:14)
200 (36:54)
203 (37:32)
204 (39:31)
205 (39:57)
I dont know what Evansville even is. I was talking about track, and power 5 schools, that should be expected to reasonably competitive. I certainly can't speak to cross country at all.

absolute filler sport so they can have a div 1 basketball team...would be shocked if they allotted anything more than the minimum to get by for the budget... I would assume there is a local high school team that would beat them.

Ok, but how do they get people to go/participate? It’s quite embarrassing.
Do they have to go to regionals? is that a requirement?
