I’m a college runner heading into my senior year. I’m assuming I have insertional achilles tendonitis (not completely sure, but I have an appointment next week to find out). I had been running about 50-60 mpw for my first few years of college in the Saucony Freedoms, but I switched about 3 months ago to the Triumphs (didn’t like the updates to the Freedoms). I started getting intense achilles pain two months ago. Could it be from the shoes? I heard that the Triumph is stiff… I just don’t know what else it could be. I’m good at keeping up with rolling, strength, stretching, heel drops (had insertional achilles tendonitis before)… Anyway, what are the best shoes for insertional achilles tendonitis? I’ve read mixed things about this? Also, I’m aware that the shoes won’t fix the problem, but I just wanted to hear some thoughts for the best type of shoe for this problem.
Also, my shoe heel is completely worn away on the left side (the side of the IAT), but it isn’t on the right side or anywhere else… don’t know if that is relevant or not!
Last time I had this problem, I was out for a year. I’m really hoping to compete my senior year, so I would love to hear any shoe recommendations!
