Can't wait to see Y² on this course. Very happy to see her and Kosgei headed to London over Chicago.
McColgan is doubling at the World's. I don't think she has enough time to get in 2:18/19 shape in London. Maybe next year, after a second block of dedicated marathon training. Just looking at her fitness this year - 30:19 over 10k, and 66 for HM - I think she'll go for 2:20-21. I hope it's a very good day for her and she sneaks under 2:20 but anything under 2:23 has to be considered a great debut.
Another to watch is Mary Ngugi. She's quietly been stacking great results and her 2:21 PB is due for a revision. I think she could be added to he list of sub-2:19 women after this race
Men’s field is released on Thursday. Any guesses? Geremew, Evans Chebet.
Great to see that the US's lone elite woman runner has a PR 16 minutes slower than the best PR.

London has a deep budget, so this will again be the most competitive of the majors. I bet they will still try to get Kipchoge, even though everyone (myself included) expect him to run NYC.
Maybe even Lawrence Cherono and Lelisa Desisa will be there in London.
Eilish McColgan has been spectacular on the roads. Her marathon debut is a must see for me. And with a fast field. This will be exciting.
Cherono is the most obvious to go for if Kipchoge insists on New York. Would Kamworor double back from World's, or will he go for Valencia instead? I expect Tola and Kitata but I'd also like to see Abdi, and Kandie on a flat course would be really interesting.
You could also see sentimental last hurrahs for Bekele and Farah.
Would any Americans want to take a shot at a fast time and forego a payday at a US marathon? Imagine what someone like Mantz could command next Spring if he ran something like a 2:07 in London in October. Short term loss for maybe a long term gain
Is London ever going to try to transition back to being a spring marathon??

They have announced 2023 will be held in its usual April date.

McColgan will be great but the 'other' debutant may be more competitive
The best base anyone can have is to be at best possible 5000 and 10000 shape then change long run from 15-18 for 5 and 10 to 20-23 for Marathon, and run longer intervals, basically be in great 5 and 10 and tweak/make SMALL changes for the Marathon. She will do great, you will see.
