If she doesn't sign with Nike, she's making a huge mistake because they are about to launch an even better sprint spike on par with the Dragonfly in distance that will revolutionize sprinting.
I'm in a facebook group of track and field "fans" some former Olympians are in it as well as regular fans like me.
There was a post this morning that she signed with Puma for 2 million dollars. When I looked at the profile of the poster, it looked like a fake account.
But, the resultant replies all indicated that she did indeed turn down Nike and sign with Puma.

If that's true, it seems odd. Since when is Puma spending large sums of money on runners from United States?
Puma is aggressively courting athletes and attempting to grow their profile in the U.S. market. Yes, Nike could easily outbid them but their treatment of Allyson Felix a few years back still resonates with a lot of elite women. My observation is that younger women are seeking contracts with guaranteed money, no reduction clauses for injuries and pregnancies, and the freedom to seek additional revenue streams. Nike still tends to favor brand exclusive deals plus the "carrot-and-stick" system of reductions/bonuses. You can potentially make more money with The Swoosh but, it is more of a gamble long-term as injuries and life events inevitably happen.
I was hoping she would sign with New Balance or adidas. Puma is fine as well. Anyone but Nike.
$2 million seems excessive s I am not sure that I believe. I can see Syd getting that kind of money but not Abby. Maybe some day but not yet. She has the pesonality. the looks, and seems to be a good all around person that is a great ambassador for the sport so if she continues on her current trajectory, the potential is there.
Ahhh.....ok, thx. Someone named Serenity tweeted it then it must be true.
It's still odd this hasn't been made official. Nothing from Puma and nothing from Abby. Could this be a case of a rumor spreading without verification?
