This was a bad showing but I actually think his better event is the 1500...he ran 3:35 at age 19...his 5k PR at 13:17 is really not competitive in the US anymore.
Can we please stop pretending that Tincan Elite is anything more than just a marketing stunt? For every decent performance one of them has, at least 10 bad ones follow. Not surprised that 1) Drew Hunter bunked in the 1500 and 2) he didn't have the qualifying time for the 5000. I'm sure his mom will be able to console him and blame it on all of the negative aura on the internet

Say what? 3:35 and 13:17 are good times for someone so young. Like many in American Track & Field he may already be gone! America has the best young track & field athletes in the world, however we do not develop them, we USE them! And this is in every event.

Hunter is 25 this year, so I wouldn't exactly call him "young" anymore. 13:17 really isn't competitive in the US at this point, the 5k is way too deep. But, his 3:35 at 19 shows he has some raw speed/talent, so he should work to develop his 1500 more in my opinion, as it is the softer event.
Drew left his stride in Jack Salisbury's house. He's always been a biomechanical wreck, and far beyond his ceiling, but that was painful to watch him try to go.
