Perfect race last night and possibly the best shot Kerr would have had at taking the Norwegian wonderboy down. Not only would he have had a rabbit for literally the entire race, but he usually closes a little better than Jakob and Hoare. Shame we didn’t get to see it.

absolutely zero chance he would have won yesterday

He hasn't closed better than Jakob or Hoare all year. Think Hoare is 2-0 against Kerr this year.
Kerr likes to complain about how soft Americans are, while staying in America.

And not racing much or well. Here's his season:
May 6th (5000): 13:37.99 20th Place May 21st (1500): 3:35.92 5th Place (wouldn't this have been a great opportunity to push the pace and not run a "soft," extremely passive race and the type that could eliminate him in 1500m heats) June 11 (800): 1:46.95 7th place against a soft field
There're 3 legit Brits in the 1500m field (Heyward, Wightman and Gourley). Unless Kerr has been sandbagging, I think there's a real possibility Heyward and Gourley are marking qualification a little dicey.

Darn Americans are making him soft! If only there were races in Europe he could run. Darn it!

The selectors will give Kerr the discretionary place if he's outside of the top two. They keep that discretionary place for medallists who have an off day
Kerr is eating some humble pie after all his big talk at the beginning of the year. No podcasts or very many Instagram posts after talking a big game before Milroy’s. Glad he’s losing. The dude won’t even make the finals in Eugene. If he can make it to Worlds at all.
That being said, the Beasts need a new coach. Their athletes are running absolutely awful this outdoor season. Kerr saved Mackey’s career with that bronze medal.

Probably, the medal gives him some credibility. But they did not select Grice who had a 3:30.6 in 2019 after he finished 4th. Nothings guaranteed with 4 guys who have made finals in it.

To compare Kerr, who has an Olympic bronze medal, his 2019 worlds result, and under 333 or mile equivalent several times, to grice, a guy who lost to folks whose average top 5 time was the same but popped a 330, is a little bit crazy. Grice wouldn’t have been a lock to make that final. On Kerr - and I know hoare is doing this - but coming back and forth to Europe for races takes it’s toll. I’m sure after some early season woes he wanted to get some extra training in. Not going to lie seeing the 146 last week when rumored he was doing 145 off a 55 first lap last year was concerning - but I can see him back in 328/29 shape by end of year and hopefully hoare there with him and they can both run Jacob close

Grice has had a reputation for not performing when it matters for years now. There's no way Kerr isn't selected if he's fit. He's got an Olympic medal from last year and broke two British indoor records this year. Gourley struggled to get the qualifying mark. It wouldn't surprise me if Kerr is allowed to skip the trials just as it seems Hodgkinson is being given permission to skip the 800, and just as Laura Muir was allowed to skip the 1500 at last year's Olympic trials.
