Do other sports have forums of grown men talking about high schoolers? Kinda odd to me.
Is it weird that you were bothered enough to make a post about it? What outcome are you expecting? If it's not the one you wanted will you let it ruin your day? I don't care if you're 15 or 95, live life and don't let silly things bother you.

Since 50+ year olds are the ones who likely have children that compete in high school *and* they are also the age of high school coaches, No, it’s not odd.

It’s not weird. Plenty of people talked about high school Lebron, high school Kobe, Garnett, Zion, etc. ~20 years ago people were talking about high school Webb, Ritzenhein, Hall and Rupp, and they went on to make a major impact in the professional ranks of U.S. distance running. So it’s only natural that a forum for discussing elite running would take note of 1:46/sub-4 guys who might be the future of the sport.

Who ate your rolled oats?
No one, who ate yours? Reality speaks volumes. Try to use logical thinking. The person posting might be 60, you don't know and either do I. Dumb post.
I don't understand why Americans get so hung up on age and insist on dividing ourselves into age based silos. There's really nothing inherently abnormal about people of all different ages taking an interest in each other, or even interacting with each other.
If that phenomenon didn’t exist across all sports, sorry but none of the national HS meets would exist, college sports would be played in crappy stadiums in front of a couple thousand coeds, and pro sports would exist at the level of say AA baseball.
Adults like following the next generation of athletes. It is what it is.

The discourse on here about high schoolers is not even close to as bad as other sports. As another poster mentioned, college football recruiting is way worse. Grown men will send HS kids death threats for committing to a rival school and college commitments get discussed by 100x the amount of people than are on these forums. The top HS basketball players have millions of followers on social media and their entire lives are under a microscope. These boards are pretty tame in comparison.
It's far more bizarre that 50 year old men like David45 and sham pretend to be teens but are actually old men. And even more so is that Rojo hired David to troll the boards and groomed that alter ego.
But yes!, basketball, football and lacrosse forums all have devoted followers of high school athletes and which university they will might attend.
The athletes have star rankings and some adults go crazy when their school get s a 5 star football player. The fans follow what universities they visit and who they potentially commit to, its really wild.
So it's not unusual at all.
Some of us may think those fans need to get a life but they love it
I'm over 50 and I only follow HS running up to a point through this site. At this point in time the sport is as interesting on that level as the college or pros.
No, why would it be weird for HS coaches to discuss HS runners.
I dont think I ever opened a thread on ultra marathons and rarely post about long distance elite road runners but I am very interested in HS, college and elite track and field athletics.
