Lots of MN showings in distance races.
MPLS Southwest in the 4xyard, Mounds View in the 4x800, Breker in the 3200 and 1600, Mcarthur/Skelly in the 1600 and Breker/Jones in the 3200.
And Stocke in the 1600 and McCleary in the 800
Surprisingly few Utahns. Even Idaho has more going. Do the qualifying ones in Utah not typically go to track nationals? I know they go to the Eastbay XC West Regional in droves.
I wonder why Niwot isn’t running their top runners in the 4x1 Mile
There are more athletes entered that show up on the timing site. Guessing this list was never updated.
Looks like MA has as many entries as NY…….some fields are loaded…Ladies SP, TJ, Mile, HJ…boys 800, SP, Discus,
has NB posted their entries as yet?
Start lists -
Rocco Culpepper…Is that Cruz’s brother?
Niwot’s already got an insane class of 2025. If he’s going there and run close to Cruz’s standards, Niwot will have an even better chance to win nattys in 2024.

appears the answer is yes.
Apparently He’s also got a brother Levi Culpepper who goes to Fairview. I guess Rocco may end up at that school too.
What happened to this meet?
I just checked the entries in the boys track events and literally 90 percent of the top 10 athletes in the country are not here. It's a little better in the field events but that has to be because Brooks PR doesn't offer field events.
Again what happened to this meet?

As has been discussed ad nauseum, there are four national meets this week. NB Nationals is getting the lion’s share of the east coast runners for cost reasons while this one gets the west coast. And of course some of the best are just doing Brooks. Between this one and NB, I think the expectation was that one would probably have a few more than NB, but I haven’t actually checked. Still, both will look like they have just half of that they should.
On top of that, some runners like Sumner, Collin Sahlman, and Gary Martin are doing events other than the ones they are best known for so you may have missed them.
If you want to see an empty National meet, look at the adidas meet. That one should have seen it coming and had much lower entry standards.
I wish this was discussed even more than it already is (and its talked about alot). IMO it is ridiculous there can be 4 "national meets" on the same week. Obviously the kids are free to decide who to compete against and where, but having stuff like this is objectively awful competition wise. Imagine if there were 4 "world champs" meets in the same week, instead of a centralized one. I wish someone or something would help put together a unified, truly national meet, but I don't think that will ever happen. I understand guys like Flatt and Sumner have different plans for their season, but it is very unfortunate we won't see a post-season matchup between them for the HS record.
Thanks. I knew that there are four meets. I guess my question should have been why this meet (put on by same group that used to put on the nationals when New Balance was its sponsor) has fallen so far behind the New Balance and Brooks meet so fast?
Travel … why would east coast kids fly across the country (especially ny kids where state tests and finals are still going on as well as graduations going on) when they can drive 4 hours to compete with great competition.
Under their CEO John Donahoe the budgets for the sports marketing departments are being destroyed. The meet doesn't have the funds to help the top athletes attend by providing travel expenses to as many of the top athletes.
Donahoe doesn't think such meets do much for shoe sales and is slashing support in this and of USATF as he can under the contract. Plus he has dramatically cut funding for sponsored athletes at the pro level and for college teams other than the elite ones. Old school guys at Nike are angry and perhaps their will be a coup soon but for now this is the reality.
