Kilian ran his first race apart from Salomon today and got the CR at Zegama (3:36). Didn’t see much about the field but still an impressive win. Him vs. Francois at Hard Rock 100 is going to be insane!

Whatever! Cheap win because Seth James Demoor opted not to run. No way that Jornet was going to defeat the DGR FAM-A-LEEE juggernaut powered by platitudes and prayer. He needs to write a thank you note to the airline that destroyed SJD's hamstrings and to the snow that fell on the Rockies earlier this month. LET'S GO!!!
Almost 8 min/mile pace for a marathon that has 8,400 feet of vertical gain, dang...
Those Euros know a thing or two about moving fast in the mountains.
Also, Kilian proved his GOAT status again, with or without Salomon. Made me think about his extraordinary longevity in the sport. Magnini, who did very well, had been proclaimed #1 rival to KJ quite some time ago. Kilian being 10 years older is gonna be the guy to beat for a while.
Yesterday’s run was 16 years after his first Zegama.
Watching him on some of the climbs, they’re saying it’s likes a 15-20% incline and he’s moving up it like it’s 10 stairs.
Also shout of to Courtney Dauwalter who placed 10th. She was having a great time up Sanctu Spirit, taking it all in. She was vibing too hard and almost tripped and ate sh*t lol
Crazy. He's getting faster with age.
Interesting post from Max King about raising level of competition:
"That didn’t go QUITE as expected. Not bad, not good. It started well enough
and I worked my way up the pack to 10th at one point feeling pretty
controlled but this is Zegama and right when you start to feel like
things are good this course takes you down a notch (unless you’re @kilianjornet).
The crowds at Sancti Spiritu were off the charts this year with the nice
weather and so was the rest of the competition. I started to struggle
with cramps about 25-30km but managed them well enough until about 32km
and the “downhill” into town. I will tell you that this long downhill
has it fair share of vary “big” hills in it when you are cramping this
bad. When I would usually put on the downhill afterburners all they
would do today was sputter. Held onto a top 20 spot with 16th but the
kicker is that I ran 3min faster than last time and got under 4hrs. Any
other past year a sub 4 puts you in the top 5. That’s how deep it was
this year. Insane!"
Anyway, they all should be grateful SJD didn't show up :(=)
Yeah I think the first 6 were under the old record which is insane.
I can wait for the video where an TL nods and carries on like a lunatic while Seth says that his Pikes Peak time would have had him in the mix with Kilian. I’m disappointed. I’m disappointed DEE GEE RRR because hmmmm, it’s tough. I didn’t watch the race but I know if I’d made it to Zegama, mmmm, it would be very interesting... OK question of the day time DGR, so… which world record could you have broken, if you didn’t injure yourself sitting down?
Such a great race. Bummer you can't purchase Kilian's shoes yet... almost perfect.. start a new brand, set a CR in a super-competitive field in a new shoe and BAM still not available. Doesn't look like anything special, but at least he ran great in them. Bummer for Salomon, sponsoring the Golden Trail Series because of Kilian and he abandons your brand. Kudos to Davide for a great race, as well as Nienke putting NIKE on the map.

Ha, ha you are so right.
But at least Seth is the champion of messy kitchen videos.
Clearly American insider jokes but who the fxck is Seth Demoor?
funny none of you mention the D-Class Kenyans placing 2 in the Top 10 with the 5th place finisher in his first effort missing the CR by less than 3-minutes in like road shoes and over-dressed. Studs.
Onward and Upward!
So why no Walmsley? And it looks like Max King (age 42) took the top vetM spot at 16th overall.

Never mind. A google search says he is a social media character who has run 2.22 for a marathon. Obviously I should waste more time on Instagram.

You really need to watch his videos.
Was hoping to see Gray from USA maybe give zegama a go. He is the only one who has actually beaten kilian in an ascent steep type of race and has dominated Davide multiple times. More Americans need to come to this event. I believe the fast times were large in part due to dry terrain. Typically it’s muddy as hell there so times vary drastically. Great run by ladies wow they crushed it
Think Walmsley is focusing on UTMB and probably feels this will detract from that where Killian feels it can help him build
Lmao, the DGR posts by this guy are incredible. Rust, any chance you could start doing similarly themed posts, but directed at fellow Youtube runner juggernaut/sports supplements (juice) extraordinaire , NICK BARE? Here's a guy who claims to be natural, but I would like to hear Rust Never Sleeps' take on this one.

I get the feeling Walmsley is a one race trick pony by choice and can handle more or less successfully one challenge. Now he focuses on one race and once race only. Used to be WS, now UTMB. He'll never be all rounded athlete in the sport. Reminds me of Lance Armstrong (only TdF) in this regard.
Kilian is sortve a one trick pony as well. Couldn’t get CR at Western States, took a big L to two slackers and doesn’t have CR at SpeedGoat.
Those Kenyans ran faster than Kilian on their first time on course. Damn/ id say Kipchoge sun-3:30 on this course.
