Say what you will about the Oregon Project and Salazar (and yes there is PLENTY bad to say). But I think they understood that they had a rule in promoting the sport and racing on the biggest stages beyond the absolute bare minimum they are contractually obligated too.
In addition to that, what about skipping a national championship in your best event because "I haven't been feeling like myself lately"? To be fair, I'm sure Elise has a perfectly valid reason, but it just looks bad and doesn't make her team look good.

Doesn't she realize how this comes across? The total lack of self awareness and entitlement gets me about this group...
The whole "I know my character" and "I know what's in MY heart"--yeah, that's nice but the truth is your actions prove your character. When you are actively promoting an athlete who is banned for testing positive, an athlete who keeps changing her story, an athlete who is now leaning heavily on the word "intentionally" to make herself look like a victim, and then turn around and write an insta post saying "meh--just don't feel like me-self!" before a national championship, you are going to get scrutiny.
This title caught my attention because it was highlighted on the side bar. Reading the posts and looking at the dates of those posts, it was clear this thread had fizzled out only to have one post in the last few minutes and I guess now mine which in some way keeps it going. Probably to the delight of those at let’s run for highlighting it in the first place.
Firstly, why all the hate? Why the lack of understanding about track and field? Cheers these athletes on for goodness sake.
The beginning of this post was about Grant Fisher by someone who for some strange reason thinks negatively about one of the USA’s best distance runners in a long time. Then the post gets filled with BTC and Houlihan haters.
It’s very strange psychological disorder really. Is this coming from young runners that are a product of our self destructive society? And/or from people that are really not understanding of the sport of track and field?
Friday nights 10k was a very strange race. It was slow, very slow, with a couple of marginal spurts but essentially a tactical race which then becomes anyone’s guess at the end. I am sure many of the runners second guess their tactics - none more than Bor. Bor missed out on what looked like a sure spot on the WC team only to tie up half way down the stretch and trip over his spikes. Granted it looked like he was trying to do what Chalimo did last year to Fisher and Kincaid - clearly it didn’t workout for him and congrats to McGorty for getting third.
The thing is none of you posting, or me for that matter, know exactly what was going on in the race or the lead up to the race, tactics etc. I confess I do listen to what BTC athletes have to say and because of that I can say with some confidence BTC is currently in a big training block similar to that of the Fall and most likely didn’t tapper for a sit and kick. Heck, they haven’t raced since their big push in late Feb and early March. My guess is Bor is on a similar schedule because those guys are looking to Worlds and summer in Europe. This race was the end of May, USA’s are later in June, World’s are in July, DL is July, Aug, Sep. This was Kleckers third race this month, with that comes sharpness.
Most important is making the WC team, second is to win - obvious thoughts on every one of the racers minds.
