Yes, her performance was legendary. However, the field she competed against was super weak in part due to the late announcement of the event and also in part to the upcoming World Championships. She ran against sub-elites.
Well mate when you have accomplished something in your life come talk to me....you have no idea who I am. Do you even run or coach or are you just another no one....
Why isn't this bigger news....she beat the next woman by 6 minutes or about 27 seconds per mile faster....huge performance.
You assume everyone knows who "Emily S" is??? Why not spell out her full name like you have an ounce of intelligence.
Sorry I stooped to your level. Emily is on the front of website. I assumed that the title Emily S. And half marathon would have made sense to most. Good luck to you in whatever capacity that you are involved in the sport.
US Mens distance running is in the toilet, that’s why. It’s embarrassingly poor at the moment. No slight on Emma though at all - fabulous run and rightly deserves her place in the history books.

The USA half-marathon is not a prestigious race. The top 5/10 guys are not going to run a HM in the middle of a track season and especially so with the USATF championships coming up.

Of course that’s true, but there should be more than enough depth to ensure this doesn’t happen. There is no depth, just extremely average/poor with 1-3 decent guys.

Most serious runners I know generally avoid national USATF sponsored events and only go occasionally despite USATF involvement and not because of it. The exception being trials events which for some reason USATF gets to control.
