Originally designed to correct mismatched length in legs, limb-lengthening surgery has become more popular for men looking to permanently increase their height.
If "Scott" is willing to pay 75K just because he hates being 5'7, I can imagine he's going to be spending a lot of money in his life due to low self esteem, self-worth. He'll just find another imperfection to obsess over.

Yep, that's true of anyone that is getting elective cosmetic surgery of any sort.
Interesting read. I think Scott will have ongoing issues, however. I'm 5'8" but have never been self conscious about it. In my 20's, there was that song by Randy Newman "Short People" (got no reason to live) but it never bothered me. Oh well, to each his own.

For 75K you get a nice used Porsche to compensate. I would not mess around with my body.

Better to use that 75K to buy a 19 year old hottie arm candy.
Yes it is a first world problem. The exact problem is COMPARISON. Social media exacerbates this as does commercials in the media and television. That's because most commercials are for products and these products imply the subtle message that something is wrong with you and you have to fix it to be ideal or normal. What a sad society we live in, full of anxiety, toxic compairson and manufactured problems.

I think there are a lot of very tall people who would elect for surgery to make them shorter as that's a bigger issue. The world was made for people in Scott's height range up to 6'3 or so with little adjustments necessary. 6'4 and 6'5 are pushing it where you may have issues fitting in certain cars or certain rides may be off limit. But I imagine any guy whose simply over 6'6 with nothing to show for their height other than being tall and clumsy would gladly undergo surgery to get down to 6'4 or lower. Then there will be no issues finding trousers that fit or getting into small cars or entering rooms made for average sized people.
This procedure is no joke. A few years back, a prominent podiatrist got his a$$ sued off for allegedly crippling people with this procedure gone wrong.
Monroe County Hospital has suspended the hospital privileges of a Macon podiatrist after he was jailed last week, accused of crippling patients and refusing to pay a $3.9 million civil
