In 2019, I ran 2:34 marathon on negative splits, which is also my debut marathon. I ran on mostly high 70 mileage and a peak week of 86. Ever since that marathon, I've been getting injured a lot. I haven't run another marathon yet because of these injuries, especially right now with a 4th metatarsal reaction.
My PR is 1:12 for the half and that was fairly recent. I'm thinking for my full marathon in October (Chicago), I plan to run low 80s and nothing less unless I'm tapering for a race.
What should I do to get sub 2:20? TBH, after my debut I had a goal of running at OTQ, but my chances for 2024 OTQ are low because of injuries. I'm thinking of getting close to 2:17 as much as I can and set myself up for a OTQ qualifying time for 2028. I'm 29 years old and I give myself 3 chances for this. The ages by OTQ races will be 31, 35, and 39.
