KT goes for a second wheel. But it will be very stiff competition.
It got overlooked but in 2019 she ran 4:36 in the 1600 leg of the DMR. They were too far out to matter, but a great run.
I saw that, she must have started 120 meters (or more) behind in something like 13th place. Barely a glimpse of her from any camera angle, even looking up the straightway. Closed to 5th I believe. Claire Walters ran a great leg (4:44 I think) to win it for FM.
Video still there, behind paywall though. Carrie was the commentator and she watcher the whole way.
Yep. That was when KT was in 8th grade. North Rockland had a really strong team featuring a second national class runner in Harris. That same year they set the national record at New Balance beating Lake Braddock. At the Penn Relays in 2017 Harris gave them such a great opening 1200 that KT was able to coast on in running the anchor. I think in total KT won five national DMR titles with North Rockland. They won New Balance Indoors from KT's eight grade year to her junior year. Covid shut down her senior year so they had no chance to defend their title. The also won NB outdoors in 2017 as well. That year they won the high school DMR grand slam.
That was even faster than Murphy's time when NB set the national record. It was an A+ for effort in a lost cause. Chmiel's team won also in 2018.
The story of kt decline in HS from soph year was always exaggerated.
JR- nxn course record, Holmdel record, 9:01 3k
SR- defended nxn in wet (shows how good N Young was), the 4:36 at Penn, and a boatload of 4:40 / 10:00 runs for wins that of course were not prs.
Chmiel - hope she is only nicked, and will run acc?
Penn - another peek at Starliper in 1500, nice chance for vess and shaw to compete in 4x1500 and dmr. Best chance for wheel is 4x1500, but plenty of competition.

Penny relays was in 2017 as 9th grader. New balance outdoors was in 2016 as 8th grader. Tuohy won the outdoor mile in both 2017 and 2018. Nc state dmr team is listed on penn relays site.
BYU W going for the three distance relays - the DMR (Fr), 4x1500 (Sat) and 4x800 (Sat). Taking 2 from DMR to each of the 2 Sat relays. Look to be favorite for DMR and 4x800 though Ole Miss, UVA and/or UNC may give them a run for the DMR. Arkansas and NC State going into 4x1500 fresh. BYU has 2 of 4x1500 in Th 1500, (as does NC State though those 2 as of now are not listed for 4x1500). As we saw in Or last weekend running a solo mile (or 1500) is not as easy for many. Better to be the chaser I think.
“On the distance side, we’re going to load the 4 x 1,500,” stated Harter. “That’s a collegiate record that is prime to be broken. We have the capability of doing that along with either BYU or NC State. It will be a great showdown and wouldn’t be unrealistic for all three schools to break the collegiate record.” Using splits of the expected line-ups for the top three teams produces a tight contest among the possible final times of 16:58.00 (Arkansas), 16:58.64 (BYU), and 17:00.22 (NC State). Each of those teams has a potential 4:12 or faster anchor leg in Razorback Lauren Gregory (4:12.47, indoor mile conversion), 4:12.81 for BYU’s Courtney Wayment, and 4:12.58 for NC State’s Katelyn Tuohy.
Arkansas returns to the Penn Relay Carnival this weekend with a crew of distance runners, while sprinters and jumpers head south for the LSU Invitational.
