I mean, I get the LRC obsession but Tinman had a solid winter on the track. Reed is their marathoner. He's now had two pretty solid marathons in a row plus some other good results on the road.
It's good to see any American run 2:11 at Boston. Why can't we just be happy for Reed? Seems like he's more than dedicated to the training & hustles with a couple of side gigs.
In one of the recent TME YouTube videos, Drew makes some comment after the workout like "we were having a debate about who is the most talented/least talented guy on the team. I said, and I love you, but you're the least talented guy on the team" which speaks to his immaturity, when he knows the 'most talented' will be him as the once heralded 'future of American distance running', but I think today shows in Reed what can happen when you focus on the simple things - consistent training, smart decision making, and not being overly image obsessed.
Being the most talented runner in the group means very little if you don't do enough with it.
Kudos to Reed, super likeable guy, hard-worker, great result.
2015, we are going back to 2015? Currently Reed is the best runner on the team I'd say. Hunter had some ok results this year though. Might be getting out of his rough patch. But over the last couple years Reed has had the most impressive results in the group.
If you are talking about their historic accolades, that'd be different. But that seems not a useful convo.

That comment really really stood out to me too - Drew could be the nicest guy on the team 99.9% of the time but my goodness did that comment really make him come across like a giant a**.
It also reminded me of two people I sadly know:
Person 1 - injured more days than healthy the past 3 years, still talks about the talent they had, knows exact days since their last good performance but hasn't moved on yet.
Person 2 - will run a PB, then light up everyone in our training group - "when did you last run a PB then" if someone disagrees with them on something unrelated to running, doesn't matter if that person is mid-marathon block, or 2 weeks post marathon, or dealing with a long term injury. Just a completely 1 dimensional person that ascribes all their worth off of PBs and recent success.
Anyway, Reed is cool and humble if in a boring manner - not dissimilar to someone like Fauble.
2:10:54 for Reed at Boston, for 16th overall, 5th American. Has he now surpassed Drew, Parsons, etc in the TME pecking order?
Why do Tinman (and probably other American groups) write something like 5th american? I mean this is not the US champs so who cares? He was 16th!!! not 5th!!!...

It's a good run but come on.
Ah, dissing a guy as if a 2:10:54 sucks! Now, how many men have ever run the Boston Marathon? How does 2:10:54 rank among those tens of thousands of runners? Yeah, it ain't sub 2:10, or even more spectacular, and it was 16th, but it's still outstanding. It's a 4:59.6 per mile, and "5th American" is still worth crowing about - by Tinman Elite, by anyone.

Sure, he’s in the top 1% globally. However, he’s in the bottom half of pros internationally. And no threat to make a USA team, same as the rest of TME. Not exactly worth a devoted thread of praise on here. But please, go ahead and hype Droddy and Stinson while you’re on the topic.
