I live in the southeast and am looking for a last minute spring marathon. I was originally planning on passing on the spring marathon season as I am coming back from injury, but I've gotten a few months of training in and have gotten back in shape quicker than expected. There is one in Columbus, GA on May 28th called the Heroes of America Marathon that I'm considering running.
The timing of the marathon is good as it gives me a few more weeks to gain some additional fitness, and then gives me 5-6 months until a fall marathon. However, I'm aware that it starts getting pretty hot and humid in May in the southeast, so the weather might make it impossible to run a decent marathon.
What do you think? Should I give it a go next month and hope the weather isn't too oppressive? Or just wait until the fall for my next marathon?
