High school distance track runner here, in general is it a bad idea to do a long run (for me that’s 10-12 miles) five days before a hugely important meet? Would it be beneficial? Thank you.

Whenever you're planning your peak, you should cut your long run by a few miles. Dk if that's this race or one down the line. So your 10-12 becomes 8-9 (easy hour or so) in the week before your last goal race of the season. It's April so you might not be there yet. 10-12 also isn't super long so you'll probably be fine but maybe stick with 10 now that you're in season & racing a fair amount. Keep the long run efforts relaxed. Don't worry about pace.
Depends on what you are acclimated to. If you are doing that same distance at an easier pace then it shouldn't affect you much but I wouldn't do it cold turkey. And like the poster above.. if it's championship race in peak season then cut back.
Unless you're training for the marathon (maybe the half), your long run shouldn't be a hard workout. If you're accustomed to running that long, 10-12 miles at a relaxed pace shouldn't take a lot out of you, especially if you have 4 days to recover afterwards.
