My body is wrecked. I joined the no stretching club 2 years ago in an effort to reduce the frequency injuries - and it worked. Over these two years I did nothing but run. No cross training. No nothing. 70-100 mile weeks. No breaks.
But now I am unbelievably tight and stiff to the point that I am constantly uncomfortable and slightly in pain (but not injured - if that makes sense). My hips are tight. My hamstrings and quads are tight. I struggle to bend down to pick things up off the floor. I am so tight that I can’t do any athletic activity besides running straight forward. I feel like if I tried to juke someone out I’d snap both my knees. I’m running better than ever but I just feel so damaged and unathletic. It’s a weird feeling. I don’t like this.
What can I do to fix this? Should I start easing into a stretching program? Yoga? Lifting? Did I permanently wreck my body?
