Kind of a weird question, but whenever people that aren't really runners or without track background hear that I run track, the first question is always 'Well what is your mile time'? I haven't run a full effort mile in years, however I've competed in the 1500m recently. I ran 4:15, which most conversions equate to the 4:33-4:35 range. Besides the fact that I'm not really a 1500m guy anyway, when people ask me mile time, is it socially acceptable/appropriate to just give them the converted time? Since most non-track people don't have a lot of background on the 1500 vs the mile.
I recognize this is probably a dumb question, as at the end of the day it really does not matter but I was just curious as to what other people thought.
