I'll go with Kiplimo. Seems like an elite HM dude with some wheels is the best bet. I think Jakob is too 3-5 but probably behind Kiplimo, Kandie and Rhonex.
Ill put the number at 8. It's a VO2 max effort for these guys so I'm thinking 2 workouts of mile repeats with substantial rest between reps and then 6-8 hours between sessions.
It would be awesome to see one of the greatest actually try this. But it's an awful idea for longevity. And only the Anglosphere cares about the mile.
My money is on Kipchoge, if he trained for the event. But I don't have any good arguments. I can only gesture at how its not really pushing his boundaries that far, and he can hold though paces better than anyone else.
Joshua Cheptegei. I’d say in a 24 hour period he can run 6-8 sub 4 miles.
He should be able to run more than that. His 5000m is 12:35. Which is essentially ~ 4:02.5 ish for a full mile.
Presumably, he could run 4 x mile at slightly faster than 5k pace with 10 min rest as a pretty easy workout.
I think he could run 10+ in a 24 hour period. Random anecdotal story. I did a 24 hour relay ~ 20 years ago. At the time, I was only a 15:10 5k guy. I ran 24 miles at 5:00 with an hour rest in between. During off season base training.
I am quite interested in the answer to this question. I think a strength based miler like Jakob could probably do 7 or 8 in a day. 4:00 is about 3k pace for him. Most people limit their 3k pace workouts to 1k intervals max, so it would be a tough workout - no doubt. A more interesting question - how many hours do you think someone could go running a single 4:00 mile per hour?

The difference between running 10k pace and like 3k pace is huge in the amount of volume that can be done. If I was betting I would go with 9 as the over under.
The younger track version or the marathon version? Kipchoge's PRs are 3:33/3:50. Bekele's is 3:32. I would go with El G who ran something like 32 sub-3:30s in his career. A 4-minute pace would take less energy for him than the distance guys.
