6 sub 2:05 guys, 7 sub-2:06 (cumuliate) and 12 sub-2:07 (cumulatve) + the debut for Julien Wanders (13:13/27:17/59:13). Jake Robertson is also in the field.

Iguider also makes his debut on marathon during this race.
The last winner of the Chicago marathon (Tura) will be there as the 2nd of the NYC marathon (El Araaby).
Wanders is looking for the Swiss record (2:06:40) and Amdouni for the French record (2:06:36).
The weather should be quite cold for this time of the year in Paris but it should be a fast race.
Interesting field for this marathon. I don’t remember Paris being a fast course. Cobblestones and uneven ground at times make it easy to lose your rhythm, but that’s maybe less of an issue with today’s shoe cushioning.

It's crazy how many guys there are running 2:04. I follow the sport pretty avidly and I haven't heard of any of those sub 2:05 guys. Runners from countries that aren't Ethiopia or Kenya need to raise their sights

You're right. Paris doesn't have the reputation of Berlin, Amsterdam, Valencia or Rotterdam in Europe. The second half is not totally flat (but still quite easy). Nevertheless, last year 8 runners ran in less than 2:05:30 (the race was in October because of the Covid) so it is possible to have fast times here. And the field looks even stronger this year. In my opinion, the winning time will be a little slower because the conditions were better in October, but it should be fast (around 2:05 for the winner).
We are going through a cold spell in France right now and it’s right around 4°C in Paris right now and the forecast for Sunday is around 10°C which is still pretty cool. Where I’m situated in the south of France, inland from Marseille, it’s very windy and cold today around 4°. Sunday if there’s no wind should be pretty much ideal to run fast Times. In the north of France around 50 km north of Paris there is snow and icy conditions today. It’s kind of like a freak first of April gift.
Interesting! looking for the results.

I thought El Aaraby would have been 11th in NY.
Amdouni has shown great shape in cross country this year, winning easily French Championships.
And with his 59'40 at Gnydia, he should be with the leaders most of the race. I expect him to beat Wanders and set a new French record in low 2h06.
Funny to see in the field Driss El Himer who ran 2h06'48 19 years ago in Paris. 12 seconds more this day than Benoit Z who still has the french record from this race.
Keep an eye on Blands. Coming in under the radar but this could be a massive breakout race.
Her training around Wandsworth and Putney in London has been impressive.

Amdouni is the worst possible representation of athletics:
Why the f**k is Flotrack claiming to be streaming this when they haven't made it available in any region?
I can't wait until another streaming service comes along, with an ounce of competence, and puts them out of business.
I agree. Most disappointing. I have cancelled my subscription as I am only interested in Track and Field and road racing and flotrack can’t seem to get it together enough to show it in our entire country (I live in Hawaii)
