Wow.
Wow.
Biggest winning margin in the 60m hurdles at World Indoors is .11 from the 1987 Championships. Grant might double that.
Absolutely nuts!
If you remember, he went 12.81 in the semis at USAs last summer. Looked totally relaxed doing it too.
Then he won the finals, but ran up in the hurdles and the crowd was catching him at the end.
Same story at the Olympics (without the WR scare).
Same story yesterday. In finals, he is so fast between hurdles that it actually hurts his race in the middle, and others can catch him late.
I do wonder what he can run for a flat 60m. he won ncaa with a 6.50, and he’s faster now.
Just to add to the insanity of Holloway's 60mH accolades:
7 of the top 10 performances all time are his!

Maybe he's actually so fast between the hurdles when he's going all out that he is almost quick enough to cut one step from his stride pattern, in which case we could see a major reduction of the 110mH record. But for the moment it's messing up his finals.
It would be outstanding to see him adding other events now. He would certainly be a contender in the indoor 60m flat and probably multiple events outside, 400mH, 400m, 100m, 4x400m, and maybe long jump.
While at UF, he ran 6.50 for 60m for a national title. He long jumped 8.17m. Ran on their 4x400 all the time, once clocking a sub-44 split outdoors.
Insanely talented.
Grant Holloway would probably shatter the decathlon world record if he gave it a couple of years of attention.
Could he score high enough in the....
100....9.98?
hurdles....13.00?
long jump.....27?
400....45.5?
high jump.....6-8ish?
to off set his weaknesses the throws, pole vault, 1500?
Could he surprise there?
That's a crazy idea... I'd be really surprised if he could actually do it, but I would be super interested to see how much closer together the hurdles would need to be for him to be able to 2-step. It would be tough because it would involve alternating lead legs and be a completely different rhythm but I think it honestly might be worth his time to work on that in training just to find out if it's within the realm of possibility. If he could pull it off he would fundamentally change the event even more than Fosbury changed the high jump. We did 2-step drills in college sometimes and I think it would be cool to see a race run like that with appropriate spacing. And you're right, there's a reason his fastest times come in semis - he's more relaxed! Running all out he is just a little too fast to handle his own speed.

This was a reply to cvxzxczv's post: "Maybe he's actually so fast between the hurdles when he's going all out that he is almost quick enough to cut one step from his stride pattern, in which case we could see a major reduction of the 110mH record. But for the moment it's messing up his finals."

People also forget he was national champion in the high jump in high school and jumped 7'1 - never did it in college
