Had an injury that required me to take 5 weeks at very low mileage. I had 1 week at only 7 miles and the other 4 weeks were around 20-25. Before the injury, I was doing 100-110. However, I am getting a cortisone shot today so am hopeful that I’ll be back at it by next week. I don’t have a marathon until mid November, so I’m not too worried about lost fitness. I am curious, though, how much fitness did I lose in those 5 weeks? Running shorter runs (longest has only been 10 miles but the others are usually 2-5 miles with no workouts) doesn’t feel harder at the same pace. A part of me thinks it might be good long term as I haven’t run under 70 mpw in the last two years before this break. Also, has anyone had any success with a cortisone shot to help with ITBS?
